Android 10 Q will give an annoying notice when running old applications

Google has made changes to the Android Open Source Project (AOSP), according to which the upcoming version of the “green robot” with the index of 10 Q will warn users every time they run applications with support for Android 5.1 Lollipop and older (games and programs with low API, optimized for older devices). This is done for security reasons.

In December last year, the “good corporation” adopted a new policy of releasing applications on Google Play, according to which, from August 1, 2018, developers cannot publish in the store from Google games and programs supporting Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and older. The matter is that the optimization of applications under the old version of the operating system forces developers to use irrelevant software interfaces. In comparison with them, the new APIs are safer, more economical (they consume less battery power) and are not so demanding (they consume fewer system resources).

Android 9 notification

With the release of Android 10 Q, the rule of publishing applications on Google Play will change, and developers will have to release games and programs with API for Android 6.0 Marshmallow and newer. If users download the application for older versions of the operating system from third-party sources, then each time it starts, a notification will appear that the program may not work correctly. This will certainly prompt users to write to the developers angry comments about the requirements to update the games and programs.

Since Android 10 Q is at a very early stage of development, there is practically no information about the features of the upcoming version of the operating system. It is only known that in the future the “green robot” will receive an improved backup system – the user will be able to save their important data in Google Drive with a single click.
