Android Jelly Bean will lose new versions of Chrome

In the next update, Google will refuse to support older versions of Android. They will not get a new Chrome, but the old one will remain.

The XDA portal provided important information for owners of devices with older versions of Android, namely Jelly Bean. It turned out that soon the Chrome browser will no longer be supported on this version of the OS. Thus, users of Android 4.1-4.3 Jelly Bean will lose current versions of the mobile browser from Google.

Chrome Jelly Bean

This became known thanks to the latest commits to the Chrome browser code. They can be viewed on the resource google source. This does not mean that the browser will stop working at all on Jelly Bean – for it there will simply be no more recent updates. The lowest supported version of the operating system will rise to Android 4.4 KitKat, which still remains one of the most popular – it is installed on 7.8% of all devices. But Jelly Bean (4.1-4.3) is no longer as common as before – together they occupy a share of 3.2% (about 30 million devices).

Chrome Jelly Bean

It is possible that the new version of Chrome without the support of Jelly Bean will be released before the end of 2018. However, you shouldn’t be discouraged, because, with the help of several utilities, craftsmen can always lower the version of the required API in Chrome to Jelly Bean. The community is always ready for the new restrictions from Google.
