Today we have seen the new YouTube payment services: YouTube Premium and YouTube Music. Both give us the ability to play multimedia content without ads through the paid subscription, but also offer us the option to play the content from the mobile in the background.
We found this option in the past but the streaming service eliminated it over time. However, there are two very simple ways to do it in both operating systems without having to resort to the payment options and then we will explain them to you.
How to play YouTube in the background on Android
The first thing we will do is forget the YouTube application if we want to do this, so we will open Google Chrome on our Android phone. The next thing we have to do is run the browser in “computer mode”, just as we do to perform reverse image search from Google on the mobile.
To do this, we will click on the three points located in the upper right margin of the browser window and in the menu that will be displayed, we will activate the option “see as computer” . The next step is even simpler: we go to the YouTube page from Chrome and choose the video that we want to play in the background.
Once the video is playing, we just have to go out and search the screen of our mobile controls (in almost all cases appear with notifications) from which we can play or stop the video without having to go back to Chrome to control it.

How to play YouTube in the background on iOS
In the case of the iPhone, we will do something similar but it will not be with Chrome, but with another free browser for iOS that we can download from the App Store. The browser is called Dolphin and once we have downloaded and installed it on our phone, it will be even easier to play YouTube in the background even than on Android.
We will go to the YouTube page, we will choose the video that we want to see and ready, we just have to leave, because the video will continue playing and we can manage it directly from the Control Center of the device.
