Previously it was thought that the latest update for the old OnePlus smartphones would be Android 8.1 Oreo. But the company decided otherwise.
OnePlus company at the official forum announced that smartphones 3 and 3T two years ago will receive an official update of Android 9.0 P. Initially it was assumed that the models will update only to Android 8.1 Oreo, however, according to the announcement of the employee, after internal discussions it was decided to concentrate resources on the latest version of the operating system instead of last year. This support strategy looks even more loyal to users, which can not but rejoice.
According to OnePlus, the company plans to update its smartphones to Android 9.0 P in the following order: OnePlus 6, OnePlus 5T, OnePlus 3T, OnePlus 3. Exact release dates are not currently reported, but the Chinese manufacturer promises information in the coming months. It is expected that the next generation of OxygenOS will be released shortly after the release of Android 9.0 P, which will take place before the end of the summer.

Recall, OnePlus released smartphones 3 and 3T in the middle (June) and the end (November) 2016 respectively. The T-model improved the processor (Snapdragon 820 – Snapdragon 821), the battery capacity (3 000 mAh – 3,400 mAh) and the resolution of the front camera (8 megapixels – 16 megapixels). The design remained the same until the OnePlus 5.
