Play Music for Computers has Been Supported by YouTube Music

Google Play Music, like many other Google services, is limited only to the mobile application and the web version. About the desktop client of the music service, especially for various platforms, there can be no question – the search giant is quite satisfied with its browser version. In 2015, developer Samuel Attard of Melbourne, Australia, created a third-party Google Play Music Desktop Player (GPMDP) , an open source project. It fully works on HTML5 and is currently available for Windows, Mac, and Linux. The other day GPMDP was updated to version 4.6.0, which brings support for YouTube Music.

A week ago, Google officially launched in 17 countries a new music service called YouTube Music. We described all its main features in detail in a separate article, in the same place compared YouTube Music with Google Play Music. In a nutshell, the advantage of YouTube Music is obvious, especially since this service should replace Google Play Music in the future. Literally, immediately after the announcement, the developer of GPMDP began work on integrating support for YouTube Music into his player. Together with this, he thinks about changing his name, because the program now combines just two music services.

GPMDP is executed in exactly the same style as the browser version of Google Play Music, but it is notable for its functionality. Among the key functions of the program is worth noting integration with LastFM, support for desktop notifications, customizable hotkeys, themes and much more. GPMDP also has a separate mobile companion application for remote management of the player. In general, if you subscribed to Google Play Music or YouTube Music, we strongly recommend.
