Technology PureView will return to Smartphones Nokia

Thanks to the efforts of HMD Global, the once popular Nokia brand triumphantly returned to the mobile market and was able to enter the top ten smartphone manufacturers in less than a year. Another step to returning the former glory was the purchase of the PureView brand.

After the deal, Nokia with Microsoft in 2013, the latter received rights, including the trademark PureView. And on August 23, 2018, HMD Global bought from Microsoft this brand and can now use it in future smartphones Nokia. This is evidenced by information in the database of the European Union’s Bureau of Intellectual Property.

Nokia 808 Pureview

The unique technology of software processing PureView debuted in 2012 in the Symbian-smartphone Nokia 808 PureView with a 41-megapixel main camera. Then it appeared in other smartphones, including Nokia Lumia 920, Nokia Lumia 1020, Microsoft Lumia 950 and Microsoft Lumia 950 XL. The system made it possible to make really high-quality images without digital noise.

Of course, the acquisition of rights to the brand PureView does not guarantee the release of a new Nokia smartphone with a 40-megapixel camera. But there are rumors that now HMD is working on creating a smartphone with a Penta-lens, which, perhaps, will join other PureView-devices.
