VectorMan for PC. It’s been a while since we told you about the arrival of a new game from SEGA Forever’s classic line, but the Japanese company has not given us too many new ones. After the Super Monkey Ball arrival, now it is time to return to the most successful SEGA machine. Straight from Mega Drive comes VectorMan, a rather curious run & gun that stood out in its day for the use of pre-rendered models in three dimensions.
1995 was a busy year for SEGA. Mega Drive gave its last throb of life and its successor, Sega Saturn, disembarked in the West on May 11. The development for the 16-bit SEGA was on the verge of death, but still, some titles came out that gave it some zest. One of those launches was Vectorman, which was a kind of prodigy of the technique thanks to the movement of the protagonist: a robot composed of 23 individual sprites that move in unison. A very peculiar game that developed in the United States, something that can be perceived just by playing it.
A Run & Gun Game:
VectorMan is a run & gun to use, which means that we are going to die a lot if we do not apply ourselves in the matter of eliminating everything that is put before us. The game moves through our mobile terminals in a fluid way, allowing the action does not slow down at any time. Move and shoot for its 16 levels will be the main thing, although luckily the game does not stop there: we have several different weapons as power-ups, as well as the possibility of transforming into various objects to continue advancing on our way. These transformations are a good method to make shine the technology used in the game, although in these current times perhaps it has remained something porch. But hey, you have to put yourself in the shoes of a 1996 player. In his day, it was quite a surprise because of his graphics and his sound effects.
Imagination is everything:
VectorMan is a game that remains perennial in the imagination of every self-respecting saint. Although the title was more popular in North America, its exit in different later formats has meant that it still has a good memory of it. It is very clear that he lacks all the charisma of Treasure games, although not everyone can do masterpieces. In addition, the game comes with the additions that SEGA puts to all these retro-editions for mobile devices: save game, personalization of controls and the possibility of going back in time to a moment of the game in which we were alive and kicking.
Of course, it still has the same problems as the vast majority of SEGA Forever games, such as the fact that it has a fairly regular control. The truth is that we are already a bit resigned to continue pointing this out because the SEGA promises that they would focus on non-emulated titles seems to have fallen on deaf ears. But well, we are not going to be spoilers either and we celebrate the arrival of free games with which to take a good look at the past. And if not, look at the list of games that SEGA Forever already has.
